"He lived a life well played"(short bio)

What do you want written on your tombstone?
Set aside the sad feelings.

What would you like to be there?

I dance with the idea of "Loving son..., he lived a life well played."

Living a life summarized by these words means success to me. A memorable life lived my way. But, at the same time not taking things too seriously. Pushing limits and seeking adventure on each corner.

Let’s go back to my early days.

I was born in Quito, Ecuador. Ever since I can remember, I have been competitive and curious. My days were full of sports, magic, music, art and adventures.

Feeding my endless curiosity about how things work. As already written, I fell in love with volunteering. Unconsciously, I saw business as a way to help more people.

As soon as I understood how money works. My first business was selling lemons on my street. It's the spark that put me on my current path.

In 2008 I found my two longest rides: inline hockey & the Scout Movement.

One of my hardest moments has been seeing my dream plan get crushed by a little virus.

After 2020, I had to change my roadmap of pursuing my sport full-time.
I made a life-changing decision that restructured my life.

In the Summer of 2021, I was finishing high school, climbing a volcano and moving to another continent.

On August 11, I landed in Hungary.

My 20s arrived & the truth is.

I try to continue learning out of curiosity and take care of my inner child.

I (truly) seek to make decisions about what I do that are aligned with me. Rather than doing activities that might sound good at a parents party or someone else dream.

I've lived a memorable life and plan to keep doing it. I like to think that I have embraced the complete experience. The ups in life such as traveling all around. And the rock-bottom of spending 8 hours in a foreign hospital or battling imposter syndrome for months.

And without any BS. When I say rock-bottom picture world-class level running away from yourself techniques. Like watching movies 16 hours a day for weeks.

It doesn't get any more beautiful than this.

But, look

The goal is to be +1% better each day. So, I know my tricks to return to the basics and keep moving forward.

I've learned one fantastic fact.

Progress is not linear.

What's the name of my current season?

"Learning Season" baby.

Build my basic knowledge to continue creating my life & help the greater good. My first lesson has been not to be afraid of failure (it has been painful).

4 Principles I live by:

  • I believe in the life-changing meeting point of science and business.

  • I believe our limits are simple perceptions and must be broken.

  • I believe in connecting the dots, not reinventing the wheel.

  • I aim to write the best story possible.

I challenge you to do it too, write your story :)

Live a life well played.

Till next time.
Mateo
